I did my version of "The Last Supper" using Ken dolls dressed in drag. I made there outfits and dressed each doll taking care with every detail. I submitted it to The Woodbury Museum in Orem for the Utah Valley University Student Art show. I received a Jurors choice award which was amazing. I feel completely honored as there were so many exceptional pieces in the show.

Unmade Bed

We had a new assignment for class, to photograph our unmade bed. It is an opportunity to use natural light and look at how the light affects the lines and folds in the bedding. Imogen Cunningham's photograph of The Unmade Bed allowed the viewer the chance to wonder about why the bed was empty, who slept there, and why the bed was unmade. It was a fun assignment to do. I sometimes forget how much natural light is right there at home for me to use.

Old Factory Buildings

I have been photographing old factory buildings for a fine art project. I am intrigued  by the history in the buildings and the way people used to live. I like to think about their life and how it was so different to the way we live now.

Equal Rights

My daughter and I went downtown Provo tonight to show our support in equalizing marriage rights for all. I met a few of my friends there and hopefully one day I will be able to photograph their wedding here in Utah. I was so proud of the BYU students who put this together. They did a great job.

Old Factory Buildings in Utah

I am working on a project for my Fine Art Photography class. I am intrigued by old factory buildings in Utah. I love the old brick and mortar look. I am finding that these buildings are harder to find than I thought. Many of these old buildings have been torn down and replaced with newer buildings that don't have the same feel.

Wedding Salt Lake Temple

Our class went to the Salt Lake Temple so we could practice photographing a wedding. Justin Hackworth set this up for us. It was quite the snow storm. The bride and groom were so nice to brave this cold day so we could photograph them. I have never shot in this much snow before it was a really good learning experience.

Bridals Getting Readcy

Justin Hackworth our teacher at Utah Valley University and Wedding Photographer in Provo set up a bridal shoot for us so we could practice taking photos of the getting ready part of a wedding. It was a fun evening the model Julie Garbett and makeup artist Flavia Carolina of  Versa Artistry were fantastic. They kindly donated their time and talent to allow us this experience. Thank you Justin for putting this together for us.

Working on my Portfolio for my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography

It is crunch time and I am putting together images that I will use for my portfolio. I am focusing on portraits, these are a couple of portraits of animals I am including. I love the intimate feel a close up photograph allows the viewer to have with the subject. Whether it is a person, an animal, or a flower the feeling is there.

San Diego Boating

I love being on or near the water. Since it has been so cold in Utah I thought it would be nice to post a reminder of the warmer weather in San Diego. While sailing on a 139 foot sailboat we ran across the navy running their hover craft. I always pictured the hover craft as fairly small. This was huge, and it was really fast. We were out on a whale watching trip. We did see a Finn Whale it surfaced several times. I have seen whales before but learned something new. Whales actually leave a footprint in the water. The power and force they have leave an area in the water that is calm and actually takes some time for the waves to break it up.

The US Navy Hover Craft
What a lucky family to spend the day sailing.

Horses Acting Wild

I had an opportunity to see the horses riled up. Usually when driving by farms you see the horses hanging out in the field eating hay. It is so beautiful to see the wildness in the horses come out.

Kristin and Phillip's Wedding at Noah's Reception Center

Kristin and Phillips wedding at Noah's Reception Center in South Jordan. The wedding was a day of dreams. The bride was beaming and the groom was so happy to be marrying the love of his life. The two are such a great couple and the day was filled with laughter and joy. I know they are going to have a wonderful life together. I was honored to spend this special day with them.

Barn in Mapleton, Utah

This beautiful barn is in Mapleton, Utah. I have shot at this location several times. I love the old weathered wood that is falling apart. The texture in the wood is absolutely stunning in photographs.

Provo Bi Centennial Park

This is a fantastic old tree in bicentennial park in Provo, Utah.

Salt Lake City Capital Building

Salt Lake City, Utah. This is our beautiful capital building. I shot it just as the sun was going down and the lights were starting to turn on. I shot this with my Mamiya medium format camera. I love photographing in Salt Lake there are so many beautiful buildings.

Lindon Utah at night

T
I photographed this using my Mamiya medium format camera. This is the Lindon powerplant in Lindon, Utah. I think it is so beautiful at night. I must admit I am a chicken when photographing at night. I am going to have to find people to come shoot with me at night so I don't freak myself out.

Lillies Monterey California

Some beautiful lilies from my school trip to California. We found these beauties in Monterey off of the highway. It was so beautiful driving down the coast. We had the most incredible opportunities for photographing all week long.

Monterey California Aquarium

While we stayed in Santa Cruz we went to the Monterey Aquarium. I loved every minute there. I have such a love for the ocean and all of the animals in it. They mesmerize me. My kids get annoyed because I can stay all day watching all of the sea creatures. We had fish and chips at a little restaurant right down the street. Another lovely day on vacation.

Seabright Beach Santa Cruz, California

I took my girls to Santa Cruz, we stayed at Seabright Beach. We stayed with my brother Billy and some of his friends from DC. It was so beautiful and relaxing, there is nothing as relaxing to me as hanging out at the beach. Billy's friend from Italy taught me how to make Risotto and now I can make it like a champ. We had so much fun cooking and eating together and just exploring the area. I discovered a shop on the boardwalk that sold chocolate covered bacon. I love bacon but that was not for me. It was such a wonderful vacation.
