Unmade Bed
We had a new assignment for class, to photograph our unmade bed. It is an opportunity to use natural light and look at how the light affects the lines and folds in the bedding. Imogen Cunningham's photograph of The Unmade Bed allowed the viewer the chance to wonder about why the bed was empty, who slept there, and why the bed was unmade. It was a fun assignment to do. I sometimes forget how much natural light is right there at home for me to use.

Old Factory Buildings
I have been photographing old factory buildings for a fine art project. I am intrigued by the history in the buildings and the way people used to live. I like to think about their life and how it was so different to the way we live now.

Equal Rights
My daughter and I went downtown Provo tonight to show our support in equalizing marriage rights for all. I met a few of my friends there and hopefully one day I will be able to photograph their wedding here in Utah. I was so proud of the BYU students who put this together. They did a great job.

Old Factory Buildings in Utah
I am working on a project for my Fine Art Photography class. I am intrigued by old factory buildings in Utah. I love the old brick and mortar look. I am finding that these buildings are harder to find than I thought. Many of these old buildings have been torn down and replaced with newer buildings that don't have the same feel.

Wedding Salt Lake Temple
Our class went to the Salt Lake Temple so we could practice photographing a wedding. Justin Hackworth set this up for us. It was quite the snow storm. The bride and groom were so nice to brave this cold day so we could photograph them. I have never shot in this much snow before it was a really good learning experience.

Bridals Getting Readcy
Justin Hackworth our teacher at Utah Valley University and Wedding Photographer in Provo set up a bridal shoot for us so we could practice taking photos of the getting ready part of a wedding. It was a fun evening the model Julie Garbett and makeup artist Flavia Carolina of Versa Artistry were fantastic. They kindly donated their time and talent to allow us this experience. Thank you Justin for putting this together for us.

Working on my Portfolio for my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography
It is crunch time and I am putting together images that I will use for my portfolio. I am focusing on portraits, these are a couple of portraits of animals I am including. I love the intimate feel a close up photograph allows the viewer to have with the subject. Whether it is a person, an animal, or a flower the feeling is there.

San Diego Boating
I love being on or near the water. Since it has been so cold in Utah I thought it would be nice to post a reminder of the warmer weather in San Diego. While sailing on a 139 foot sailboat we ran across the navy running their hover craft. I always pictured the hover craft as fairly small. This was huge, and it was really fast. We were out on a whale watching trip. We did see a Finn Whale it surfaced several times. I have seen whales before but learned something new. Whales actually leave a footprint in the water. The power and force they have leave an area in the water that is calm and actually takes some time for the waves to break it up.

What a lucky family to spend the day sailing. |

Horses Acting Wild
I had an opportunity to see the horses riled up. Usually when driving by farms you see the horses hanging out in the field eating hay. It is so beautiful to see the wildness in the horses come out.
